Jeff Day creates unique visual interpretations of the mysterious
city of Istanbul. Everyday life, architecture, landscape, and the
people of this poetic and sensuous land are the images that
become his art.
A long-time Whidbey resident and NW Artist, Day has made
numerous trips to Turkey. Recently returned from a winter visit,
he continues to explore ways of expressing this foreign
experience. Filtered through western sensibilities, the results
are a delightful and surprising melding of cultures.

Day works primarily in abstract and figurative bronze. In 2001 he began working in two dimensions while traveling within Turkey. He then continued on to China in 2008. His resent paintings are inspired by the poetic Chinese landscapes and youthful figures of Nanjing and Jingdezhen. Day's work has been influenced by Northwest master's Clayton James, George Tsutakawa, and William Cumming.
